Poverty Eradication and MDG Campaigns

The Millennium Campaign aims to build political will for the achievement of the MDGs primarily through raising public awareness and increasing pressure on governments. Through supporting national campaigns with advocacy, networking, mass mobilizations, training and capacity building, as well as media and communications development the Millennium Campaign works with citizens to monitor and hold their governments to account for their commitments made to achieving the MDGs.

Human Potential Development

SUNFO Centre for the Development of Full Human Potential (CDFHP) is the academic wing and will cater to the diverse training programs, seminars, workshops, etc to help both young and old to realize and live their full potential. This centre has developed the working relationships with many Universities and Institutions worldwide. Human Potential and Personality development, Advanced spiritual development, Master Memory and E- Consciousness, IT related subjects and Professional English are some of the programmes pioneered by this Center. This Centre is affiliated to The Maharishi Institute of Advanced Technology SL that functions as a Department under the Faculty of Creative Studies- Java Institute for Advanced Technology. It seeks to promote Consciousness Based Education among youth Island wide. SUNFO and this Centre played a key role in hosting the Maharishi Scientists in 1999 and participating in many activities of the Maharishi University.

Human Rights

On December 10, 1948 the General Assembly of the United Nations adopted and proclaimed the Universal Declaration of Human Rights the full text of which appears in the following pages. Following this historic act the Assembly called upon all Member countries to publicize the text of the Declaration and "to cause it to be disseminated, displayed, read and expounded principally in schools and other educational institutions, without distinction based on the political status of countries or territories."

Youth Congresses & Global Youth Forum

Youth Congresses are a part of Youth Development arm of Sri Lanka United Nations Friendship Organisation (SUNFO) which is a network consisting of UN entities, represented at the headquarters level, whose work is relevant to youth. The aim of the SUNFO is to increase the effectiveness of UN work in youth development by strengthening collaboration and exchange among all relevant UN entities, while respecting and harnessing the benefits of their individual strengths unique approaches and mandates.

Women Empowerment

Over many decades, the UN has made significant progress in advancing gender equality, including through landmark agreements such as the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action and the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW). SUNFO is striving towards empowerment of Sri Lanka women up to the expected standards by the United Nations.
