WHAT IS GYSD?:

Global Youth Service Day (GYSD) is an annual campaign that celebrates and mobilizes the millions of children and youth who improve their communities each day of the year through service and service-learning. Established in 1988, Global Youth Service Day is the largest service event in the world, and the only day of service dedicated to children and youth. GYSD is celebrated each year in over 100 countries. GYSD in this year will be celebrated  on April 20-22.(Visit www.gysd.org

) Sri Lanka-United Nations Friendship Organizsation (SUNFO) was the National Lead Agency for GYSD in Sri Lanka for last six years. In 2012 SUNFO is serving as the GYSD Asia & Pacific Regional Partner Organization. www.sunfosrilanka.org

HOW TO BECOME  A  " YOUTH COMMUNITY SERVICE AMBASSADOR"?

This will be a high recognition for youth to become leaders in the  society by doing service to the community. Nominated Ambassadors will introduce GYSD to other fellow youth and children,  to organize community service programmes  for GYSD.
if you are  a

(a)Youth  age between 16-25,   (on 1 January,2012)
(b) having leadership qualities and   wish to become  role model for other youth
(c) ability  to organize  projects/activities for GYSD with  children & youth of Age 5-25
(d) willing to motivate  other institutes, organizations, and people to  join GYSD
(e) having an email ID and access to internet  for communication.
you may be a right person to receive the honour of  Youth Community Service Ambassador  in 2012.
